Back with Sprinkles!

Hi, so sorry i have not posted anything in the past month, I've been really busy with work and school but since i don't start school til February I can start making some posts. Well i wanted to write about where this blog might be going. I always find myself buying different vegan food products like cookie dough, vegan cheeses, faux meat and i wanted to make this blog more of a review of vegan products i come across. I do have a recipe i want to share with you so i will be posting some recipes so i will post that ASAP!

Anyways.....I got the chance to try Sprinkles Vegan red velvet cupcake! The first time I got to go was in the morning at The Grove and the store is so small and cute. Well after they took my orders I got my two good smelling cupcakes!! I of course got the only vegan cupcake they had, red velvet, and i got my sister a chai latte cupcake, which she loved!

The cupcake is so good I had to go back to get another one, it's so soft and topped with a sweet and not so sweet icing. It's the best vegan red velvet cupcake I've tasted so far. When i went to second time at The Grove there was a huge line to get their cupcakes so we waited in line and now i understand why they write down everybody order because it gets packed! well since the store is so small it takes a while but its worth the wait because they really are a small piece of goodness!

Veg-It-Up food truck & BabycakesNYC cupcakes

 Today my friend and i wanted to see the levitating rock at LACMA but before we got there we saw a line of delicious food trucks waiting for us to check out and the first in line was Veg-It-Up, a vegan and vegetarian food truck. When we got there the guy was about to close the "windows"  but saw us walking up to him and offered to leave it open if we were going to buy something so we said YES of course! We weren't sure what we wanted so we asked him what he liked and he mentioned the "Chicken" Wrap.

 This delicious wrapped thing is the "Chicken" wrap and inside of it are onions, lettuce, peppers, tomato, and a avocado spread, you can also get it with a spicy Tabasco sauce but we didn't get it with it. This wrap was so good even without the Tabasco sauce because it was a bit spicy well i loved it even though I'm not a huge fan of peppers it all worked together and if i see this truck around again i will for sure try it out again. Carrot Cake, Vanilla

And these lovelies are from BabyCakesNYC and I'm pretty sure every vegan in LA has heard of these cupcakes because they serve vegan, gluten free, soy free, wheat free, and refined sugar free goodies so for anyone who is allergic these are perfect or for anyone period. Well we got these from the M Cafe on Melrose Ave and they only carried two of Babycakes cupcakes which were carrot cake and vanilla and two muffin tops but i don't remember what flavors they were. They were both really good and not too sweet at all but what i noticed the most about these babies was the frosting. Both frostings tasted the same but the consistency was different from any other cupcakes frosting it was kind of gum like but super smooth. The only bad thing about these were the price because it's a bit pricey, $4.50 each, but definitely something to try.

No good; So good

Okay so attempted to make another vegan cupcake, it did not work out so well. I tried making a single cupcake but my sister wanted one so i just doubled the ingredients to make just two cupcakes. So the ingredients were whole wheat flour, coconut oil, applesauce, almond milk, agave nectar, vanilla extract and a bit of water. I don't know if i didn't put enough agave to sweetened but it wasn't sweet. No good no good. So i ended up making Chocolate Banana bread!! which i love so much that if i made the whole batch i would have eaten it all so i just made half of it.

Coconut Goodness

 Okay I've been to Yummy Cupcakes plenty of times but never got a vegan cupcake and the last couple of days i knew they were going to have a vegan coconut cupcake and i have been craving it like crazy. So i went through my "I'm saving up some pennies because I'm broke" jar to look for some change and surprisingly there was a bunch of nickles and dimes, anyway i found enough cash to get one delicious coconut cupcake. Yummy Cupcakes only carry 3 vegan cupcakes a day, one is always a vanilla one and the other two you can find out at their website here! They also carry a sugar free cupcake once a week which would be awesome if they were vegan. Well the coconut cupcake was good, it was moist, soft and very sweet but the only hint of coconut were the coconut shavings on top of it and after i ate it i felt a sugar overload it was a bit too sweet(which is strange for me because i love sugar) Well Yummy Cupcakes and The Sweetest Vegan on YouTube inspired me to make my own vegan cupcakes and I'm so excited! I've always liked baking but I've never thought of vegan baking and it doesn't sound too hard since there are a bunch of replacement for the dairy products. I have been watching The Sweetest Vegan bake all her awesomeness goodies and so this weekend i will get the ingredients i need to make a coconut cupcakes and maybe i'll bake some cupcakes once a week for a month, if i remember. I'm so Excited!!
